I must have applied to nearly all of the electric energy providers in texas, before I got this job. It is pretty much up in the outskirts of the civilized world it seems. I mean that I am in the middle of nothing driving for very long distances. There are a few really large cattle ranches in this part of the state and there are some scattered oilfields along with a couple of one dog towns. They all seem to be an hour and a half driving distance from each other. The truth is that I spend a lot of my time in a shed waiting for calls. They keep a man out here in the middle of nothing, ready to respond to anything that happens within an hour or so. It is best if I can do a job by myself too.
